Where my art began
I can trace the origins of my art right back to my childhood growing up in Horsham, West Sussex.
From a very early age, colour and creativity were an important part of my life. From drawing and painting, to performing plays and building miniature fairy homes, I always had a project on the go.
At school, my more memorable creations included a collage featuring cigarette butts and a sock-and-fur piece called ‘Metamorphosis’. But a lack of encouragement from my art teacher led me to give up making art for over 20 years.
After studying geology and moving to Worcester, frequent trips to West Cornwall reignited my love of art. Evening classes and short courses in St Ives and Newlyn got my creativity flowing again and I've been painting ever since.

Inspiration and influences
An insatiable passion for colour
My work is fuelled by colour and shaped by both the extraordinary and the everyday.
I’m instinctively drawn to bold colour and strong contrast - in the vivid hues of flowers, the shimmer of an enticing cocktail, a striking pattern on a dress, or a stand-out line from a song.
Over the years, adventure has left its mark on me and my art. I’ve been robbed at gunpoint in Mexico, studied toque macaque monkeys in Sri Lanka, spent a night on Vietnam’s Reunification Express and travelled Chile’s southern highway - absorbing landscapes that feel at once vast and intimate.
Closer to home, West Cornwall’s rugged beauty and dynamic art history, along with my previous study of rock formations and mineral layers continue to ignite my creative spirit.
A blend of these influences come together to create work that is alive with colour, rich in contrast and bursting with energy. Art designed to make an impact in any space.

In the studio
My creative process
At the top of our Victorian house in Worcester, UK, my studio is a playground of colour and possibility.
Paint-splattered walls, a well-worn sink, wooden racks handmade by my Dad and a noticeboard layered with inspiration. Radio 6 Music and podcasts provide the soundtrack to my creativity and a mug of tea is usually within reach.
I work instinctively and energetically, applying acrylic paint with rubber-tipped brushes, painting knives, and sometimes even kitchen utensils. Scraping, throwing and expressive mark-making are all part of the process. I delight in the intriguing marks, undulating textures and mesmerising contours of colour that emerge.

I exhibit regularly, am represented by galleries in Pershore and Tewkesbury and have shown at art fairs in Surrey and Bath. Join my mailing list to find out where you can see my work in real life next.
I’ve undertaken public commissions including bespoke designs for windows in an historic former hotel and my largest artwork to date, Jackson, a Wild in Art elephant sculpture in Worcester’s Big Parade.
I’m a co-founder of Worcestershire Open Studios and an ArtGemini Prize finalist. My work has featured in the Society of Women Artists’ Annual Exhibition in London, Midlands Living magazine and CandyLion online art magazine.
While I prefer painting alone, I get a buzz from inspiring creativity in others and have led successful collaborative art projects.
