The colour palette of this slim painting is a little softer than many of my pieces with muted lavender, punchy rose pink, red tinged deep violet, touches of shimmering gold and iridescent inky grey.

The colours evoke the sights and scents of an English country garden, but the expressive marks disrupt any illusion of tranquillity. The dense little paint peaks created by dragged palette knife, the bold marks, scratches and scrapes revealing layers beneath brings energy and movement to the piece.

This painting fills me with a sense of optimism, a gentle swell of excitement so tangible you can almost smell it.
