The joy of colour
Cherrie has collaborated with fine art photographer, Richard Nicholls, on this exciting public realm project in the heart of Worcester. The pair were commissioned to create bespoke designs for vacant shop windows in one of the city's most striking buildings, the former Hop Market Hotel on Foregate Street.
Cherrie's 'cut-outs' were initially inspired by the pattern on a friend's dress coupled with a visit to an exhibition of Matisse’s later work in which he cut out shapes of coloured paper because he no longer had the strength to paint.
Cherrie begins each piece by applying paint and texture to sheets of paper. Once dried, she uses industrial strength punches to create each unique component. These are then carefully arranged on white canvas board to create a striking piece of artwork.
Prices start at £70 for smaller pieces up to £500 for larger paintings. If you would like to commission a cut-out painting please get in touch with Cherrie.
